Kirsten T. Proctor completed her Master of Arts in Counseling through MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2010. Kirsten T. Proctor is a fully licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of North Carolina. Kirsten T. Proctor is qualified and experienced in providing mental services to adults, adolescents, and children. She has offered services in mental health counseling, clinical assessments, family counseling, and case management. Kirsten T. Proctor works from a client centered perspective using evidence based practices, primarily cognitive behavioral and solution focused therapy.
Our newest therapist is Amy Biang. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor in the state of North Carolina. She graduated from Wilmington University in Delaware with her Master’s degree in Community Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree is social psychology. Her specialty is in treating eating disorders and was trained at the nationally renowned Renfrew Center for eating disorders. In addition her other passion is working with families, couples and young adults. She believes that families can thrive when given the right tools and environment to learn effective communication skills. Other issues she works with are anxiety, depression, intimacy, issues with daily living, parenting, self-esteem and marital issues. Having served in the US Air Force she has experience working with military issues and family separations. She works from a Reality therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Solution Focused family therapy. She is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Association of Mormon Counselors and Professionals.
Shekita Brown is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of N.C. and S.C. She graduated with a MSW from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She specializes in working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She has also worked in many settngs such as intensive in-home services, schools, outpatient services, department of juvenile justice, and military bases of all branches with children and families. She enjoys working with groups and has 7 years of mental health experience. She is a member of NASW and volunteers with several community organizations. She has a great passion for helping others to obtain their goals and more.
Lifeskills is pleased to announce our newest intern, Cynthia Woods. She is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Licensed Professional Counseling at Liberty University. During her internship, she will be offering free counseling to the unemployed and to individuals who do not have health insurance.
Ronica D. Foster, MA, LPC, LCAS, is a licensed professional counselor as well as a licensed certified addiction specialist. She has more than fifteen years of experience in the field of mental health and substance abuse. Ronica received her undergraduate education from Winthrop University in Rock Hill , SC and her master degree from Webster University in Columbia , SC.
Ronica has experience as a therapist in private practice as well as counseling for several mental health agencies in the Charlotte area. Ronica feels honored to be apart of the change process as the client learn and grow in coping with stress, expressing feelings, decision making and problem solving. Ronica value spirituality, honesty and hard work.
Venita Cooper is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (#A9260) through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. Venita earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 2007. She went on to earn a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Webster University in Columbia, SC in 2009. Venita is currently pursuing certification as a Registered Play Therapist. Venita offers six years of mental health experience providing individual and group therapy for children, adolescents and adults. She has worked in a variety of settings including homes, schools, residential facilities and detention centers. Venita specializes in helping children, adolescents and adults manage severe mental health symptoms such as depression, trauma, anxiety, suicidal/homicidal ideations,defiance, anger/aggression, social/relationship problems, difficulty with communication, and mood disturbances. Venita has a genuine concern for the quality of all human life and delights in the happiness of others. Venita believes that establishing a connection with each client and providing an individual experience, free of discrimination and judgment, is essential to the counseling journey.
